Why he teaches Lean Six Sigma

Dr. K. Muralidharan — known to a global community of learners as Dr. Lean Murali — built his career the hard way: on the shop floor, not in a classroom. He moved through Product, Methods and Value Engineering, then into Manufacturing Head, Marketing Head and GM Operations roles, before becoming a Master Black Belt and, in November 2013, founding Value Enablers’ Academy in Bangalore.

That path convinced him of one thing: professionals don’t become valuable by working harder alone — they become valuable when they can systematically solve the problems their organization actually feels. Today, his mission is to make that capability practical, teachable and usable, for one million working professionals.

Trained where the methodology was built

His grounding isn’t theoretical. He trained in TPM in Japan under consultant Mr. Sueo Yamaguchi at TVS-Sundram Fasteners; deployed World Class Manufacturing (WCM) in France with EFESO Consulting during the Saint-Gobain implementation; and led the CII-EXIM Business Excellence Framework at Grindwell Norton. That is expertise built on shop floors across India, Japan and France — not slides.

His teaching philosophy

“Teach fishing, not give a fish.” Dr. Murali’s sessions are built to hand professionals the method, not just the answer — because a solved problem helps once, but a learned methodology helps for a career. He believes change begins with the individual first: a professional who takes ownership of solving one real problem at a time becomes, over time, the person their organization can’t do without.

Beyond Value Enablers’ Academy

Alongside leading Value Enablers’ Academy, Dr. Murali serves as Advisor & Governing Council Member at Cambridge Institute of Technology (since January 2014) and as Chief Operating Officer at Mahaswami Software Pvt Ltd (since December 2013). Earlier, he co-founded and served as Chief Mentor at GPVSS (2011–2013), and worked as a Senior Consultant in Lean Six Sigma (2010–2011).

The scale of the work today

Through online Lean Six Sigma sessions, live training, mentoring, project guidance and onsite implementation, Dr. Murali has reached over 2,00,000 professionals in live sessions, mentored 500+ improvement projects, and worked with 100+ companies across industries as varied as automotive, glass & abrasives, textiles, healthcare, electronics, pharma, food processing, education, entertainment and heavy engineering.
